Sweet Sue Sebastian
(with her Sybillinean Smile)
On my first day at Sunday school
a quiet girl caught my eye.
Her hair was red like the autumn leaves
'gainst the bright blue autumn sky.
I don't recall how I went home,
but when I shuit my eyes
I saw Sweet Sue Sebastian
with her Sybillinean smile.
Another year, thanksgiving day,
the church was candle lit.
And Susi wore her Sunday dress to read the holy wit.
The holy words in her silver voice
all missed me by a mile,
caus i saw Sweet Sue Sebastian
with her Sybillinean smile.
Some years had passed, at summer dance,
we were walking in the park.
I took my courage in both hands
and kissed her in the dark.
Hurt and mad she slapped my face
and left me there to cry,
my Sweet Sue Sebastian
with her Sybillinean smile.
And then on my own wedding day,
my bride all clad in white.
I thought about the good old days
'bout school and dance and plight.
But when I brushed away the veil, ,
you'd bet who cought my eye:
'twas Sweet Sue Sebastian
with her Sybillinean smile.

You tried to be humble
you tried to be good
you tried to start over
in a new neighborhood
But sleeping dogs will wake one day
varnish crack and fade away
your shiny surface will decay
well meant ain't well done
You tried not to stumble
when I though you would
you tried to go steady
acting misunderstood
But sleeping dogs will wake one day
varnish crack and fade away
your shiny surface will decay
well meant ain't well done
You treid not to crumble
when you really should
you tried to grow harder
than heartwood could
But sleeping dogs will wake one day
varnish crack and fade away
your shiny surface will decay
well meant ain't well done

Blue Hour
03:00
|

Sitting on my front porch
the radio's on
It's my favorite time of day,
the ply my favorite song
but my Blue hour has just begun
cause it ain't the same, baby,
since you've been gone
Sitting on my front porch
the breeze is blan
It blows the smell of hay
across the land
but my Blue Hour get's out of hand
cause it ain't the same, baby,
since you've been gone
Since you've been gone
the days are long
the nights are not soothing anymore
the mornings empty
and the evenings feel so sore
Since you've been gone
days drag along like the won't end for evermore
hours spanning ages
every minute feels a chore
Sitting on my front porch
it's time to sleep
but the Blue Hour in my
seeps far to deep
so I sit and watch
the weeping willow weep
cause it ain't the same, baby,
since you've been gone
cause it ain't the same, baby,
since you've been gone
